A high quality genome sequence of Theobroma cacao is presented together with predicted polypeptide sequences and a functional annoation. The genome sequence was assembled based on ONT long reads using NextDenvo. BRAKER3 was used for the annotation of protein encoding genes.

Data Origin:
Experiment and Measurements DNA was isolated from Theobroma cacao. Long read sequencing data were generated on a MinION Mk1B using SQK-LSK109 for the library preparation. All sequencing data are available from the European Nucleotide Archive (PRJEB65101).
Methods/Processes:
Basecalling of the ONT sequencing data was done with Guppy v6.4.6 (ONT). The genome sequence was assembled with NextDenovo v2.5.2 (https://github.com/Nextomics/NextDenovo).
