Eclipta prostrata (L.) L. erstmals auch für Deutschland als Container-Unkraut nachgewiesen

Eclipta prostata native to the tropical South America was found for the first time in Germany as
container weed: within the outdoor catering area in the city of Braunschweig this species grows in
plant containers with Photinia glabra s.l.. Already some years ago its spreading through private import
of container plants from Northern Italy to Germany was observed. This finding in Braunschweig gives
reason to show its spreading history in some countries of the European Union and to discuss the
establishing probability for Germany. Eclipta prostrata is highly appreciated in the traditional Asian
medicine. Therefore its seeds are also available via internet which may become an additional way of
introduction.
