Interaction Flow - Flexible Leafy Vegetation
The data set provides hydraulic boundary conditions and drag forces exerted by artificial flexible leafy vegetation elements collected in flume experiments in the framework of the research project Floodplain Flows – Flow-Vegetation Interaction. It is complemented by selected data sets in which drag forces on emergent rigid cylinders were collected. The experiments were carried out with different vegetation densities and different discharges and allow for the quantification of vegetation induced flow resistance based on both drag force measurements (drag forces acting on up to 10 plants were directly measured in the experiments) and bulk hydraulic values. The experiments were mostly carried with just submerged flow conditions. The data has already been used in various publications in which further information on the experimental setup, instrumentation, experimental procedure, and data analysis can be found.
