Archäophyten auf Mauern in Deutschland
Over a time period of 30 years all vascular plants growing on walls in Germany have been documented by the author. These data have been completed by literature research. 772 taxa have been found till now. 293 (38 %) of them are advent plants. Only 20 species of the 116 archaeophytes (= pre-1492 aliens) are common; all others are relatively seldom. Compared to the neophytes growing on walls the taxonomic variety of the archeophytes on walls is less. They belong to 31 plant families. 53,4 % of them are therophyets. The contingent of at least partly lignified plants is remarkably low. The settlement of archaeophytes on walls is an enrichment from the esthetic point of view as well as from the focus of natur conservation. Furthermore
it reflects important aspects of our garden and cultural history.
