The compressibility of cast zinc-plates was measured under the drop hammer in temperatures between 20 and 400 degrees C. When perpendicularly compressed this material offers a resistance against deformation by several times higher than when compressed parallel or inclined by 45 degrees to the plain of plate. This observation is derived from the texture of cast zinc bars on the basis of the crystal translation and mechanical twinning.
