Verbreitung und Ökologie von Euphorbia virgata W. et K. in Niedersachsen / von Dietmar Brandes
Euphorbia virgata is an Southeastern European - West Asian plant, which was able to extend its synanthropic area to Central Europe and to the far East of the USSR. Since about 100 years it is a neophyt in Northwestern Germany. Its occurence is very scattered, the population often small, the life-span is of only medium size. In Eastern Europe Euphorbia virgata grows above all in the steppe. In Central Europe its behaviour is relatively similar, also there it grows in open, unshadowed plant communities like Dauco-Melilotion, Convolvulo-Agropyrion and road accompanying Arrhenatheretum elatioris.
