Synthesis of Tubular, Belt-like and Möbius Aromatics

This study was aimed at the synthesis of tubular, belt-like and Moebius aromatic compounds using the ring enlargement metathesis reaction with tetradehydrodianthracene.Irradiation of TDDA and syn-tricylooctadiene (TCOD) with a 15 W high-pressure mercury lamp in a quartz apparatus in benzene gave five ring opened products with over all conjugated (4n)-pi system. Three isomers were characterized based on x-ray structure analyses. Two of them have Moebius (C1 and C2 symmetric) topology and another one is a Hueckel isomer with Cs symmetry.

Im Mittelpunkt dieser Arbeit stand die Synthese von röhrenförmigen, ringförmigen und Möbius-aromatischen Verbindungen, wobei die Ringerweiterungs-Metathese-Reaktion mit Tetradehydrodianthracen (TDDA) eingesetzt wurde. Die Belichtung von TDDA und syn-Tricyclooctadien (TCOD) mit einer 15 W- Hochdruckquecksilberdampflampe in einer Quarzapparatur ergab fünf Produkte mit einem über die gesamte Struktur konjugierten (4 n)-pi-System. Drei dieser Produkte wurden mit Hilfe der Röntgenstrukturanalyse charakterisiert. Zwei davon haben Möbius-Topologie (C1- und C2-Symmetrie) und das andere ist ein Hückel-Isomer mit einer Cs-Symmetrie.
