The wall flora of Braunschweig has been investigated between 1987 and 1997. 162 vascular plant species grow in the joints and on the top of walls, nearly one sixth of the total flora. Furthermore 41 species of mosses were found. The correlations between wall flora and age of the wall as well as their style are discussed in connection with aspects of nature conservation and spreading conditions.
