Vegetationsökologische Untersuchungen an wasserbaulich bedingten linearen Strukturen

By improving the inland waterway systems thousands of groynes were built up on the banks of large rivers, the vegetation of which is nearly undiscovered. At the Elbe 42 accidently chosen groynes were investigated (between Aken and Lauenburg). The richness in species is relatively high: 150 species which means nearly 60 of the total riverbank flora. The number of high frequent species is remarcable for a pioneer habitat. The differences within the species combination along the river were investigated as well as the vegetation of the groynes. Numerous groynes were taken as permanent plots for longtime monitoring. The species tumover of one groyne from 1994 to 1996 is discussed
